Douglas Mawson
Set to launch in December 2025, the Douglas Mawson is the newest small expedition ship featuring the Ulstein X-BOW® design. She is the sister ship to the popular Greg Mortimer and Sylvia Earle.
Like her sister ships, the Douglas Mawson was designed to offer active, educational and comfortable voyages for up to 130 guests. The vessel will operate a range of unique Antarctic itineraries including Fly the Drake, One-way Fly / One-way Sail the Drake and Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctica trips. In addition to shore landings and zodiac cruises, kayaking, paddling and snorkeling are offered as adventure options on many departures.
While the focus will be the expedition and getting guests off the ship on excursions, there are many onboard creature comforts. Keep an eye out for wildlife in the lounge areas with floor to ceiling windows and multiple outdoor deck space with 270-360 degree views. Expeditioners can also participate in research in the onboard Citizen Science Centre. Two Jacuzzi’s, a sauna and gym are located on Deck 7.
The Douglas Mawson features a modern interior design and 12 different cabin categories to choose from including three dedicated categories of solo cabins. The majority of the staterooms feature a private balcony.

The largest of all the suites on the Douglas Mawson with a preferred low, mid-ship location. The Captain’s Suite features a large lounge area, balcony, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite. Additional amenities include 1 free pair of binoculars per suite, free stocked mini bar (replenished as needed), 1 free bottle of champagne and gratuities included. The four Junior Suites are located on deck 7 and offer quick access to some of the ships most popular public spaces including the bridge, observation lounge, sun deck, gym & sauna. Solo Travelers
An expedition cruise to the Polar regions is a fantastic trip for solo travelers. On most ships, there is the option to share a cabin with another guest of the same gender to keep the pricing down.
