They are perfect for nervous sailors who want to experience the adventure of crossing the Drake by ship and have the chance to see some of the largest seabirds in the world but want to minimize time sailing in the open Southern Ocean. There are both trips that sail south from Ushuaia, Argentina and fly north to Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales, Chile and fly south from Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales and sail north to Ushuaia. These voyages also work out great logistically if you want to extend your trip and visit both the Argentine and Chilean sides of Patagonia pre/post voyage.
